Message from the Commodore
Outrigger Yacht Club Members:
I wish you all Happy holidays, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and the best sailing in 2026 with special wishes for good weather for the Wednesday Night Series.
For 2026 we are updating the OYC website with 2025 and 2026 race information and photos. Bob Nolen and Deb Barry, our new Rear Commodore, have volunteered to manage the website. If you have suggestions for new sections or updates to existing pages, please contact them.
Congratulations to our new Vice Commodore Eric and Lydie Surget and the new Rear Commodore Deb Barry in their new roles.
I also would like to thank all the members of the OYC Board and the Past Commodores for all they have done and continue to do to further our club’s goals.
We had OYC members Neil Treadgold, Fred Frey, and Pete Calame on the Lake Norman Keelboat Council (LNKC), and Bob Davis continues his role as the Chief PHRF Handicapper.
Many thanks to Pete Calame for his years on the council and in various volunteer roles in OYC. Pete is resigning his position on the council and we need a volunteer to replace him.
Also in 2026, OYC will be responsible to provide the role of Chairman for the Keelboat Council. This is a rotating position between the three yacht clubs on the lake.
If you are available to volunteer for either the open position on the Council and / or the Chairman position, please contact me on 704 942 4614, or any other board member.
And now Fair Winds and Good Sailing for 2026
